N e w M o o n c a s t In Pisces
Pisces moon kit: infused water or an herbal tea, a bath or water hike, meditation and prayer, a dream journal
Dreaming, feelings, boundaries, deep wounds - the sun and the moon (and Chiron) meet together in Pisces and together we turn inward to meet them. As the moon wanes we slow down, dreaming and resting. Even if we are busy in our outer lives - surfacing just below are emerging insights into how we want to spend this next astrological year, what we have learned over the past year, how we want to heal, and acknowledging how much we've healed so far. And then on this new moon we listen before we set the next cycle.
This new moon falls as both the last new moon of this astrological year, and a new moon before the new year's beginning, with the sun in Aries on March 21st, the Equinox. Pisces is beginnings and endings. It is a time of both reflection and dreaming before the full energy of spring and fire come, in less than a week's time. As opposed to our usual New Year's Resolutions just after the holidays, this is a fertile time for new year AND new moon intentions. Grab some tea or water and sit down with your reflections and hopes for both the year and cycle to come. You may have already begun to feel the dream seeds planting and beginning to stir into life. Now you can exist in that liminal, mutable phase between winter reflections and the burst of springtime life.
As the sun and moon come together just near the wounded healer Chiron, our deeper hurts and traumas may emerge alongside. As we prepare for this next cycle we see what is hidden, dwelling in the dark are the lessons we need to heal. The lesson of Chiron is that the healing lies where the wound is - instead of masking, distraction, or consumption - Chiron asks us to face our trauma in a safe space -- that in our suffering we find relief, and in turn we become better healers. Chiron is the great mirror. The events that are happening outside of you, the ones that are bothering you, that you may be turning around in your head on repeat, those are a reflection of your inner world - those are the areas you need to heal. The universe always wants you here, and it never faces you with something you are not strong enough to handle.
Pisces can also tend to romanticize suffering - seeing it as a noble path - and with Chiron in Pisces whispering that suffering is the road to healing - there may be a tendency to get stuck in your own muck. It is here that we can take space to learn the art of suffering well. Suffering is a part of life - in Buddhism it is the first noble truth - that suffering exists - and then with that awareness we see the cause, the end, and then the path forward. With the new moon and four planets in Pisces we can learn to make peace with our wounds and we can take the collective energy of the time for greater healing.
Our intuitive sense is heightened and conversations with Spirit, Source, God - whomever - will be met with clear answers. This is a potent time to meditate and dream and pray.
As the planetary interactions are always various ingredients making up a certain moment. The spicier and fiery ingredients are added in to the new moon as well, with Neptune, Mercury, and Venus in Aries there is an added sense of action and stepping forward. We can take a more active approach to what our intuition is telling us. As Aries is a starter - fiery and energetic - we can start a dream journal, go on a small fast, seek the consult of a healer, find a faith organization, or simply take the space to journal, pull some cards, and really delve into our feelings. As Pisces is a water sign, even just spending time near or in water can be a source of healing and answers (I personally have felt so drawn to baths these last few days!)
These planets in Aries combined with the New moon squaring Mars in Sagittarius adds an element of potential aggression and anger. You may be coming upon ego conflicts, feeling impatience or irritability with your competitors or vice versa. This could extend outwards into the collective on how to heal our relationship with anger and aggression. There may be both a collective and internal battle between our outward aggressive approach to anger to the more intuitive lunar approach of assessing and listening before acting. With Uranus in Aries there is a revelatory cry to end the associations of men as Mars and women as Venus - and we are in a phase of reinventing our world and the ways we heal within, collectively.
This new moon urges us taking action towards our healing and reinvention, if we only act and listen. The possibilities are all there. Now is the time to begin sowing and dreaming.
Happy new moon!
