For my favorite honeybee - Phoebe! After a busy market day I hurriedly assembled the little minicakes I'd prepared the night before (recipe coming soon!), and hopped onto the ferry - to the mainland - to another ferry - to be met by the warmest group of people around a fire in a cabin by the sea --- for the grand occasion of phoebe's 25th birthday! Although I was late (and accidentally went to the wrong home where the people inside knew me!), I was still able to eat, drink, dance, sit around a beach fire, and make myself a little couch cushion nest by the fireplace before going to sleep.
The next morning it was pancakes and coffee, folk singing, long beach walks and seaweed foraging. I found myself bundled up in my sweater and blanket, quietly blissed out by the sweet music on the couch next to me, playing over the sound of the gentle waves hitting the shore and the gulls and eagles calling outside.
And while I'm here I want to write all sorts of embarrassingly sentimental things about Phoebe - about how thankful I am to become even a small part of her own little community of love and light, about her supportive words as I've processed and assessed the nurturing relationships in my own life, but I'll just leave it at that Phoebe has been such an empowering and important friend for me since I arrived over here. That without maybe one uplifting visit from her this past summer, I might not even be in the blissful situation I've found for myself here. So -- Phoebe you guys! She's a real, powerful, inspiring star -- check out her work if you don't already know it!
And happy 25th <3
