I made a cranberry apple pie, and a pumpkin buttermilk for this market! The cranberry apple added a nice tartness to the apple pie, and it resulted in this super pretty rose color that I still keep admiring. And the pumpkin buttermilk was everything I hoped! Not quite as dense as a normal pumpkin pie, a bit lighter and creamier.
A few weeks ago I was hit with the inspiration to make little chocolate truffles - something I did in school and always liked, despite how tedious tempering chocolate is (realizing I might just like really slow tedious tasks?) - and I started making the moves to get it all together. I found dark and milk fair trade chocolate from Nicaragua and tempered it, lined the molds with it, and then filled it with all local flavors - salted goats milk caramel truffles, calendula creme, and dark chocolate rosemary. It was so much fun I'm going to try to keep making them. Yay slow tedious tasks forever.
And for the next few days I'm accepting orders for Thanksgiving - for pick-up on Lopez Island only. Order your Thanksgiving pies at the button below!
