These last few weeks, we've been shooting for Isa Chandra's new vegan cookbook. Everyday is like a crash course in photo equipment, food styling, prop styling, composition, lighting, vegan food in general - the process. I love it. I've never worked anywhere that was such a constant source of inspiration and motivation, I feel challenged like I never have before and I feel that from here, my path could branch in so many different directions. It's almost overwhelming. Will I be a baker, a photographer, maybe both, a food stylist, none of the above? Who's to say? But I do know that , if nothing else, I'm doing what I love everyday.
p.s. That's vegan prune & poppyseed hamantaschen and then little chive, shallot shepherd's pie monsters for halloween! Recipes will be available in Isa Chandra's upcoming cookbook! The first was arranged by V.K. Rees.
I'm learning that I like taking film photos of the digital process. It's fun to see the difference between film and digital in the final photos. Despite learning so much about digital equipment, there's still such a soft place in my heart for working with film and I'm hoping to find a way to intertwine the two mediums in my food photos.
Speaking of film, too, I made a separate space for all of my film photography. I'll be updating it here: demetria theophania photos.
And then Marshall naps through it all...
