I've been a sick, flu-ridden honeybee for a good bit of time now. I've spent the last few days under covers, listening to the city sounds, daydreaming, chain drinking tea, opening up comforting reads and then falling asleep. With this being my second illness since coming here, I like to think that my immune system is getting supercharged to face all these new york city winter germs, then by the time spring comes I will be indestructible. However, other times I will find my mind drifting to all the places I've lived before with clean air and less people. I suppose I'm finally feeling a bit of the February blues that take me every year.
Thankfully, I already had a few days off of work. I had a whole list of things I hoped to do with them, namely post a bunch of new, awesome recipes, but in my current state, I haven't found the energy to do much of anything. Instead, I'm sharing photos for a cake I made that was posted on Vanessa's blog earlier this week! All the photos were taken by Vanessa Rees and you can find the recipe, plus a few words by me on her blog! Or just click here: Thyme Chocolate Cake + Blackberry Salt
Also, today is Valentine's Day! I'm actually pro-Valentine's day, as long as you don't buy into the consumerism, a designated day to share love - cool! That being said I think it's true that there is a loneliness for singles, and then an unnecessary pressure for couples to do something romantic. So, I think the best solution is to take a self - love day! Appreciate you and all the things you've done. You've been trying and working away at this crazy life and you deserve to take some time and treat yourself. Then once you're glowing from all your self loving you can better share that love with all the lovely people in your life.
With all my indoor time, I found a bunch of awesome Love day and other internet links to share with you:
